MEET YOUR CANDIDATE

Lucy Ebel represents District 2 on the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners. The first Hispanic female elected to the Board, Lucy is passionate about protecting faith, family, freedom, and the American Dream.

Through hard work and faith, Lucy and her team knocked on many doors, talking with her neighbors in District 2. Lucy shared a message that connected with the people, passionately sharing her belief in the worth of every individual irrespective of race, and her love for our constitutional freedoms and American values.

Lucy first defeated incumbent Republican commissioner, Joe Baumann, in the primary election. She then went on to defeat Democrat opponent, Joe Spaulding, in the general election. These victories were no small feat. Over the course of many months and hundreds of conversations, Lucy earned the trust of the people in District 2, who ultimately voted to give her a seat to represent them. She has not wavered from her convictions or her campaign promises on the Board.

Lucy is a pastor’s daughter, and her parents taught their large family to serve the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. She has lived in Holland since 1987. She holds a Master’s degree in nursing from Michigan State University and specialized in care management. She has served her community in leadership roles in nursing and various hospital committees.

For many years, Lucy enjoyed serving her community in teaching exercise classes in several gyms, schools, and churches. At a young age, she made a promise to herself to stay healthy and to encourage others to exercise and stay healthy. Over the years, she has found that the best part of teaching exercise classes is making new friends.

Lucy has served as Precinct Delegate and volunteered in various roles for Ottawa GOP. For more than five years, she has volunteered at her church providing technical support.

Lucy is a longtime resident of Holland and is married to a wonderful husband. She also has been blessed with two children who are both married. She has four beautiful grandchildren. Her personal relationship with Christ is a driving force in her life and belief in individual and religious freedoms.

2023 Accomplishments by the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners

Ottawa County received a AAA Bond Rating, which will save taxpayer dollars.

2024 Unemployment Rate has reduced to 2.9% compared to 3.50% last year.

Ottawa County is growing: In 2023, it was reported that 50% of local employers plan to expand in the next 3 years.

Commissioners passed eight (8) Resolutions to serve their constituents:

  2. Constitutional County Resolution
  3. Resolution to Protect Childhood Innocence
  4. Resolution on Childhood Vaccine Waivers for School and Childcare
  5. Resolution Opposing State Control of Solar Siting
  6. Adoption Day Resolution
  7. Autism Awareness Month Resolution
  8. Resolution to Promote Life

INVOLVEMENT
